Application Deadline Thursday May 24, 2012

Early Decision (Binding)

Northwestern University has an Early Decision (ED) option for students for whom Northwestern is their clear first choice.  Applying under the Early Decision option ensures that you will have an admission decision before the regular application deadline for many other schools.

Because Early Decision is binding, you may not apply to other colleges under their binding plans.  If you are accepted under Early Decision, you must withdraw all other university applications and initiate no new applications. Students admitted under the Early Decision option may seek to be released from this binding commitment in cases of documented financial hardship.

At the discretion of the Northwestern University Admission Committee, Early Decision applicants may be deferred into the Regular Decision applicant pool.  In the event that an applicant is deferred from Early Decision into the Regular Decision applicant pool, they will no longer be held to the binding contract.  If you are denied admission under Early Decision, you may not reapply under Regular Decision.

Application Process

Both the Common Application and the Northwestern Supplement are required for  application.  In addition, Early Decision applicants must complete and submit the Common Application's Early Decision Agreement Form.  The form may be found at; click on "Download Forms".
