About Sophie Davis School of BioMed Ed/CUNY

The Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education was designed to educate and motivate talented young women and men to serve the urban community as primary care physicians–general internists,   pediatricians, family physicians, gerontologist, obstetricians and gynecologist.   African American and Latino students and students of other ethnic background whose communities have been historically under-served by minority practitioners are encouraged to especially consider this program.   All students entering the Sophie Davis Program must sign a Memorandum of Understanding promising to provide primary care medical services, in New York, in an area that is under-served for a period of two years following their residency training.
