About The College of New Jersey

Founded in 1855 as the New Jersey State Normal School, The College of New Jersey is a highly selective public residential college focusing on the undergraduate experience.  Seven schools - The Arts and Communication; Business; Culture and Society; Education; Engineering; Nursing, Health, and Exercise Science; and Science offer more than 50 liberal arts and professional programs.

As a highly selective institution, TCNJ seeks those students with  the greatest potential to benefit from and contribute to the superb academic community on campus.  Special scholarship consideration will be afforded to Venture Scholars, National Achievement Semi-finalists, and National Hispanic Recognition Scholars.

TCNJ’s Lions Day offers a day of programming designed to meet a variety of interests for prospective students and their families. In addition to admissions presentations and campus tours, you will also have opportunities to talk directly with faculty and staff, to see where students meet for recreation, and to witness what the TCNJ community is all about.

Scholarships
Scholarship Name Scholarship Program at The College of New Jersey 2012-2013

Description The College of New Jersey offers Venture Scholars an opportunity to compete for generous scholarships ranging from $3,000 to $10,000 for four consecutive years.  Scholarship consideration is given to students who have pursued a challenging high school program and have motivation to succeed in a very selective college environment.  Special scholarship consideration will be afforded to Venture Scholars, National Achievement Semi-Finalists, and National Hispanic Recognition Scholars.  Scholarships are renewable for four years contingent upon the student maintaining a 3.0 grade point average.  Need-Based Scholarships are also offered.

Description TCNJ's EOF Promise Award provides financial assistance for New Jersey residents that meet the full cost for you to attend The College of New Jersey, including tuition, books, on-campus residency,health insurance, fees and meals during your freshman and sophomore years.  Additional awards may be distributed in the third and fourth year based on academic progress and grade point average.

Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) students must submit the Common Application and indicate EOF on the TCNJ supplement.  Aside from the required application materials, you must also submit 2009, 20010, and 2012 tax documentation for income verification and submit the FAFSA after January 1st.

Scholarship Name Community Leaders Scholarship

Description This service-based scholarship recognizes exemplary achievement in previous service and leadership experiences and supports commitment to continued service and community leadership.  Scholarship funding varies, with awards as high as full tuition.  Scholarship is renewable annually at the discretion of the Director of the Community Leaders Program.  Participation in the program includes community service (up to 300 hours per year), as well as co-curricular and curricular opportunities that develop skills as a citizen and community leader.  Financial need may be considered.

Description This scholarship is for students who have established a record of achievement despite having endured unusually difficult life circumstances.  Applicants should show extreme financial need along with the qualities of intellect and character that will enable them to be leaders in their community.

Description First-year students are eligible for departmental scholarships within the School of Engineering.  Accepted students will automatically be considered for these scholarships.  Decisions are made by the department and are contingent upon students continuing in Engineering during their four years of study.  Inquiries about this scholarship can be directed to the School of Engineering at (609) 771-2529.

Description

The College of New Jersey welcomes Early Decision (ED) applications from students who believe TCNJ is their first choice and who are ready to commit if admitted.  Benefits of Early Decision: 1. You display enthusiasm and passion for TCNJ 2. You will be the first cohort to be notified of an admissions decision 3. You will be finished with the process early allowing time to fully enjoy the remainder of your senior year.

 PLEASE NOTE: Due to the unprecedented damage caused by Hurricane Sandy, The College of New Jersey has extended our Early Decision deadline to Friday, November 23, 2012

Application Process

The Common Application (www.commonapp.org) should be submitted by November 15th for Early Decision.  A decision will be made by December 15th.

Music Majors must submit their Early Decision Applications by November 1st.

EOF applicants must also submit 2009 and 2010 Tax documentation by November 15th for a complete ED application.
