Events during the day include academic showcases, workshops on the admissions process, Honors Program, financial aid and scholarships, internships and study abroad, diversity, and campus life. Student-led campus tours including a look at residence hall rooms are available throughout the day. Registration Process
To register online, go to the AU Admissions Web site at http://admissions.american.edu and select Prospective Student Portal/Apply Online: Undergraduate. You will be asked to put in your e-mail address and then select a secret word. Once you receive your password from AU, log back in to the same Web site, enter your e-mail in the box and then enter your AU password number. You'll go directly to the one-page Portal Account Information form, which will ask you to input your name, address, intended major, school, etc. (Please note: this is not the application.) Groups of 15 or more students should call MIT Admissions at 617-258-5515 to request a special information session. They should also contact the Information Center at 617-253-1875 at least two weeks in advance to make arrangements for a campus tour.

Overnight Visits
Sometimes students want to come to MIT for overnight visits. During the school year, individual students may stay on campus for 1 or 2 nights. During this visit, they will be hosted by an MIT undergraduate, and are free to 'shadow' that student's daytime activities.

To request an overnight visit, you must register on the MyMIT website at http://my.mit.edu and, once you have registered, click on the "Overnight Program" link. You must provide us with at least 2 weeks notice prior to your visit so that we can make arrangements for your host. Overnight visits are held on Sunday-Thursday nights.

VISIT SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Who is invited? Approximately 100 high school juniors and seniors from underrepresented socioeconomic, racial and cultural backgrounds are invited to an expense-paid visit to Whitman during the fall and spring semesters.

What will students do? Visiting students will stay with an overnight host in a residence hall, eat in our dining halls, visit up to two classes, meet with coaches, faculty, staff and student leaders (if they desire), and interview with an Admission Officer.

When is this program? Two visits will be scheduled for the fall 2005 semester. October 13-14 and November 10-11. Typically, students will travel to Walla Walla on a Thursday afternoon and depart on a Friday evening. However, we will try to make the visit convenient with the student's personal calendar and travel distance.

Why should I apply? The Visit Scholarship Program and Diversity Scholarships have been created in an effort to increase socioeconomic and multicultural diversity at Whitman College. The Visit Program also allows students who might not have the means to visit Whitman an opportunity to experience our campus community.
