Academy Introduction Mission (AIM)
AIM is a one-week summer program in July for
rising High School seniors. Intense, exciting, non-stop
- it's a chance to learn about Coast Guard engineering
and to see if the Academy is right for you.
During AIM you will meet the Faculty and staff; learn
about our academic, military, and athletic programs;
talk with cadets who have sailed EAGLE, flown aircraft,
and started their leadership journey; meet with Coast
Guard professionals who are protecting our nation right
now.
Eligibility
To apply, you must be a U.S. citizen between your junior
and senior year in High School. You must be in good
health and physical condition, able to run, do push-ups
and sit-ups, and handle the heat and humidity of a Connecticut
summer! Your weight must be proportional to your height.
Common medical disqualifiers include color-blindness,
asthma, and vision not correctable to 20/20.
Selection
Selection to AIM is competitive. Applicants
are selected by the Academy Admissions staff. We strive
to assemble an AIM class that is as diverse as possible,
with representation from all 50 states. Applicants are
evaluated based on:
- Leadership potential
- Academic record and interests
- Fitness and athleticism
Your integrity, honesty, respect towards others, and
ability to manage time wisely all count!
