Career Options for VS Interested in Biochemistry
"Hi, I've been looking into Biochemistry but
I'd like to know about it from one of our ventures
staff. Can you help? I'm trying to figure out what
to major in because I love biology and chemistry
both. I'd also love to be able to do surgery but
don't want to spend ten years in college. Do you
have any other career ideas that might suit my description?"

How to Select a 3-2 Engineering Program
"I am a mother of a 16 year old. I am so bewildered
by the amount of information we are getting. All
of the colleges seem great for one reason or another.
I have been getting information from other people
that I talk to telling me to find out how many kids
get jobs in their field of study when they graduate
and that will tell you what industry and business
thinks of that college and the kids that come out
of it. What I want to know is: If this is correct
how do you find out how many kids get jobs and is
this really a way to look for colleges? My son is
interested in Computer Engineering and Chemistry
fields. He wants to take a 3 and 2 program where
you go to one lower priced college for 3 years and
then finish at the University that they are affiliated
with and in the end you get 2 degrees. Have you
heard of these and how do you find the right one
of them? Do you look at the college at the end of
the program or the one at the beginning? SOOO confusing.
Thank you for any help and suggestions that you
can give me."

A Career in Engineering
"I am a junior at high school. I write this
letter to you because I would like to know more
about college majors. I would like to know about
a specific major I have not got information on:
this major is Bioengineering. I am interested in
chemistry, biology, physics, and math but I do not
know what subjects do people taking this major focus
on or what the major studies in general. For a long
time I have been thinking on becoming a chemical
engineer, but the subjects dealing with cellular
biology have appealed to me the most. Could you
send me some information on how could I become more
familiarized with this bioengineering major?"

"I'm interested in becoming a psychologist,

high school what happens? Is there a way in which
I'll be able to finish in less than 8 years? I'm
so lost and scared because all of my friends keep
on telling me that none of us will be able to get
into any good colleges and I really want to succeed,
could what they say be true? Please help me."

High School Courses for An Engineering
or Medical Career
"I don't know if you can answer this kind of
question but I am having a problem with choosing
my career. I am interested in science related careers
but I don't know if I want to be a doctor or an
engineer. I am interested in both so I am taking
a bunch math and science classes. This year, I have
3 sciences and 2.5 math classes and here they are
- trigonometry/ pre-calculus, calculus I, biology
II, anatomy, and physics. This is only my junior
year. What do you think? Should I still take all
these math and science classes or what? Can you
give me a list of what classes I need for engineering

3+2 Engineering Programs
"I am a senior trying to make the decision
as to which colleges would be a good fit for me.
I spent this summer at a NASA Sharp program and
this helped to firm my decision to pursue engineerng
as a career. My question concerns the 3+2 engineering
programs. I am afraid that a 3+2 program would not
provide me with the hands on exposure to a true
engineering experience from which I may truly benefit
and be competitive. What are the pros and cons of
these programs and how are they viewed by the real
world?"

Single Major vs. Double Major
"I am a ventures scholar and I have a question
about double majors. Can you pursue a master’s degree
in each of the fields of the bachelor’s degree?
For example, say that I graduated from Illinois
University with a double major in acting and business.
Could I pursue two separate master degrees in acting
and business? Do jobs feel that students with a
double major are just students with degrees, or
do the job feel the students are better equipped
for the job?"

things to ask yourself when choosing a college major?
I have narrowed my choices down to Electrical Engineering,
Computer Engineering, Pharmacy, and Pre-Med. It

which I would like to pursue. I have no clue on what
career I want to pursue and that to me is a major

Career as a Forensic Pathologist
"Hello! I am a sophomore in high school and
I am having a bit of trouble finding out information
about the career that I am interested in. I want
to become a forensic pathologist, but I don't know
what college is a good college to go to for this
field? How long will I be in college for this particular
career? Are there any courses that I could take
in high school that I would prepare me for related
college classes? There are so many questions that
I still have that I can't think of at the moment
and that I would love to ask an actual forensic
pathologist, but I don't know of anyone locally
in that field. I would greatly appreciate any information
about this field or any other medical field (I am
also interested in becoming some kind of doctor)."

"I want to major in forensic science, but
I don't know where to start. I have looked online
for the schools but when the results show, I get
a variety of schools that fall under forensic science.
To narrow it down I have chosen a specific field...a
pathologist/medical examiner, so should I focus
my studies in biology and pathology? It is just
that I am finding it a very tedious task. I am looking
for the top 20 schools. I can't seem to find out
more, and I also wanted to find a college in which
an AA degree would be transferable. And I wanted
to find a college in which I can get my B.A. degree
and masters then transfer to the United Kingdom
to further my studies. I don't know if it makes
sense, but this is what I want, but is it possible?
I would appreciate a response of any kind to help
me along with my search."
