Becoming an Ophthalmologist or a Biomedical Engineer

"I'm interested in becoming a psychologist, ophthalmologist, or biomedical engineer. My fist choice would be ophthalmologist, so I was wondering which colleges have the best medical programs? After high school what happens? Is there a way in which I'll be able to finish in less than 8 years? I'm so lost and scared because all of my friends keep on telling me that none of us will be able to get into any good colleges and I really want to succeed, could what they say be true? Please help me."
