HOW DID YOU GET NOMINATED
TO THE VENTURES SCHOLARS PROGRAM?
Welcome! You have met the following requirements
to participate in the Ventures Scholars Program! You have
met at least one of the following test qualifications:
- PSAT Qualifications: You need to score a
minimum of 50 on the math and verbal sections.
- SAT Qualifications: You need to
score a minimum of 550 on the math and verbal sections.
- PLAN Qualifications: You
need to score a minimum of 18 on the math, science,
English, and reading sections.
- ACT Qualifications: You need to
score a minimum of 19 on the math, science, English,
and reading sections.
You have also met the following qualifications:

You have a 3.0 grade point average or better.

You have identified yourself as a member of an
underrepresented group (African American/Black,
American Indian/Native American, and Hispanic/Latino/a)
or are a first-generation college-bound student.
(A first-generation college-bound student is a student
whose parents/guardians had no education beyond
high school. Race and ethnicity are not factors.)

You have expressed an interest in a math- or science-based
career.
HOW DO YOU ACTIVATE
YOUR MEMBERSHIP TO THE VENTURES SCHOLARS PROGRAM?
To activate your free membership, you will need to make
sure you complete an on-line
registration form. The on-line registration form
requests academic and personal information. This information
is confidential and shared only with consortium members
interested in helping you achieve your academic and
career goals. Every Ventures Scholar has a unique username
and password to access and update the on-line registration
form. If you cannot find your username and password,
please email webmaster@ventures.org.
Please remember to periodically update
your on-line registration form so the member institutions
and associations will have current information about
your academic and extracurricular activities. Ideally,
you should update your registration form at the end
of each semester.
WHAT RESOURCES ARE
OFFERED THROUGH THE VENTURES SCHOLARS PROGRAM?
As a high school Ventures Scholar, you are
provided with a variety of services. Please try to remember
your username and password. If you do not remember it,
you can always insert your email address and request
a copy of the username and password. If you change your
email address, remember to go into your profile page
and provide us with your new email address.
- COMMUNICATE WITH MEMBER INSTITUTIONS :
Your name will be shared with the Ventures Scholars
Program Consortium, a membership of over 200
member colleges and universities interested in helping
you achieve your career goals.
The Ventures Scholars Program also encourages you
to communicate with the member
institutions . Every member institution has a
profile page that includes extensive information about
programs, scholarships, fee waivers, open houses,
and more. Take time to peruse all of the links. You
might be interested in many colleges and universities
after reading about their opportunities.
Every member institution profile page also has a link
to an inquiry form. When you click on the inquiry
form, you will need to insert your username and password.
You can complete the inquiry form for a specific institution.
The form asks that you update your academic and personal
information. The completed form will be emailed to
the member institution.
All institutions have appointed admissions contacts
for Ventures Scholars. Check the institution profile
page to access this information. Remember to mention
that you are a Ventures Scholar and ask them about
scholarship opportunities at their institution.
- COMMUNICATE WITH PROFESSIONAL
ASSOCIATIONS : You can learn about math and
science careers simply by contacting the member
professional associations . Remember to mention
that you are a Ventures Scholar!
- CERTIFICATE OF RECOGNITION: All
Ventures Scholars can download their personalized
certificate of recognition. Some of the member institutions
request the certificate when granting fee waivers
to Ventures Scholars. Most Ventures Scholars include
their certificate along with the college application.
- RECEIVE BIWEEKLY E-NEWSLETTER :
You will receive a biweekly e-mail newsletter for
high school Ventures Scholars that provides continuously
updated information on a broad array of topics and
resources about the college planning process and VSP
consortium members. Your parents/guardians will also
receive this e-newsletter if you have provided their
email address on the registration form.
- RECEIVE TARGETED EMAILS: The Ventures
Scholars Program will be sending you and your parents/guardians
continuous targeted emails about conferences, regional
seminars, lectures, open houses, recruitment fairs
and other events.
Sometimes, you will be asked to complete a special
inquiry form that will enable the college or association
to personally contact you and provide additional information.
- ACCESS VSP LISTSERV : You will
be able to access the Ventures Scholars Program message
board, listserv, and support services that connect
you to Ventures Scholars Program consortium members
and other high school and undergraduate Ventures Scholars
nationwide. Go to the login
to register.
- VSP E- DIALOGUE CENTER:
Communicate with undergraduate Ventures
Scholars and learn about the college/universities
they are currently attending. The E-Dialogue Center
has a chat room and an online bulletin board.
- COMMUNICATE WITH VSP STAFF: You
will have access to the Ventures Scholars Program
staff via phone and email.
HOW CAN YOU CONTINUE YOUR
MEMBERSHIP AT THE UNDERGRADUATE LEVEL?
When you graduate from high school, you are invited to
continue free membership with the Ventures Scholars Program
and access critical information and resources at the undergraduate
level.
At the end of your senior year in high school, you will
be asked to provide information about your post-secondary
plans. Just go to the login
section, type in your username and password and you
will be able to update your information!
Remember to provide us with your new email address since
this is the primary way we can communicate with you!
