Dear Ventures Scholar,

We hope you like the revised Ventures Scholar biweekly e-newsletter. Let us know what you think and please provide us with suggestions about topics you'd like us to include in future e-newsletters.

It is not too early to begin thinking about your summer plans, particularly if you are considering a research program or an internship. Summer programs are a wonderful opportunity to meet like-minded students and carry out research projects under the guidance of mentors. Begin devoting some energy to your summer plans. The biweekly e-newsletters will continually provide links to resources.

Lastly, with finals around the corner, the best advice we can give is don't wait until the last minute to study. If you do wait, we guarantee that you will feel extremely stressed. Students who study a little bit before each class and study the previous classes' material often feel better prepared and less stressed.

Take care and remember to email your suggestions!

Sincerely,

Ventures Scholars Program

Meteorology

Meteorology has its roots in math, physics, and chemistry. The best preparation for high school students considering going into meteorology is to have a strong math and science (Physics, Chemistry) background. It's also useful to take courses in computer science, but they are not absolutely necessary (and may not be available in your school). Good oral and written communication skills are valuable, too!
