The Ventures Scholars Program invites high achieving
underrepresented students and first-generation college-bound
students (Ventures Scholars) interested in math- and
science-based careers to use our free
services.
- Ventures Scholars communicate with and receive
information from the Ventures Scholars Program Consortium,
a membership of over 200 undergraduate institutions,
professional schools, graduate schools, professional
associations and organizations nationwide.
- Ventures Scholars can use a variety of information
tools to access resources and information about
math- and science career pathways.
- Ventures Scholars can utilize e-communication
tools to share information with other high school
and undergraduate Ventures Scholars across the country.
High School Membership
Ventures Scholars are initially targeted in high school
and invited to join the Ventures Scholars Program. If
a student has not received an invitation but meets the
requirements, the student can complete an application
and send it to the Ventures Scholars Program.
Students must meet test score requirements on either
the PSAT, PLAN, SAT or ACT.
- PSAT: Sophomores must score
at least a 47 on the math and critical
reading sections. Juniors must score at least
a 50 on the math and critical reading sections.
- PLAN: Students must score
at least an 18 for the composite score with a
minimum score of 16 on each section.
- SAT: Students must score at
least a 550 on the math and critical reading
sections.
- ACT: Students must score at
least a 19 on each section.
Students need to maintain a minimum of a 3.0 grade
point average.
Students need to express an interest in a math-
or science-based career.
When students are invited to join the Ventures Scholars
Program, they are provided with a username and password
and are asked to complete an on-line registration form.
This form provides us with important information about
Ventures Scholars. Information is shared with our consortium
members so they can link Ventures Scholars to resources
and opportunities.
The Ventures Scholars Program respects the Ventures
Scholars' right to privacy and recognizes our obligation
to keep information secure and confidential. This information
is shared only with member institutions and associations.
Undergraduate Membership
When Ventures Scholars graduate from high school, they
are invited to continue free membership and receive
important information about resources and opportunities
at the undergraduate level. The Ventures Scholars Program
encourages Ventures Scholars to pursue graduate or professional
school.
The Ventures Scholars Program requests that Ventures
Scholars continue to maintain a 3.0 grade point average
or better and express an interest in a math- or science-based
career.
Registering at the Undergraduate Level
Undergraduate students are invited to register with
the Ventures Scholars Program. If students meet the
requirements for joining the Ventures Scholars Program,
they are invited to submit an application.
Once the application is approved, the student will be
asked to complete an on-line registration form and can
utilize the services of the Ventures Scholars Program.
This year, over 12,000 high school Ventures Scholars
and over 2,600 undergraduate Ventures Scholars are utilizing
the services of the Ventures Scholars Program.
